The most effective contribution you as a leader can make is building trust in your organization.
Trust makes your people feel save. When people feel save, politics and cover-my-ass behaviors vanish and focus on outcome and results increases.
Trusted and inspired employees engage more, far beyond what is in their job description, are doing what has to be done. Agility increases, time-to-market decreases. People become encouraged for bringing own ideas, trying something new, taking risks, going the extra mile, creating competitive advantage.
Let’s remember Simon Sinek’s quote: ‚Good companies hire skilled people and motivate them. Great companies hire motivated people and inspire them‘.
If your people feel trusted and inspired they will take any effort and climb every mountain. Their creativity will emerge and more and more ideas will be brought up. We are all creators. Let it happen. Let people live to their full potential.
Be prepared for the day when you are no longer overlooking all ongoing initiatives and for the feeling of loosing control. Don’t worry, trust your employees, watch closely, check the direction, appraise what’s emerging and be a coach rather than a commander.
